Rowing & Regatta – magazine re-design

Traditionally, British Rowing’s magazine focused mainly on river rowing events and results. In previous years the Legacy Sport Media team have helped the client’s editorial board to widen the scope of the title to reflect all the forms of rowing its members engage in, suggesting a change in title, design and format, resulting in the current Rowing & Regatta magazine.

To re-fresh the look and feel of the expanded title, the client provided a new brief by creating a mood board of selected images, design styles, fonts and colourways from a wide rage of media that the editorial team wished to emulate. Taking this detailed brief on board, the Legacy creative team developed a series of example spreads using live content from the previous edition, so a clear comparison could be drawn. A larger page format, allowing the use of bigger images and more white space added to the quality look and made possible a more expressive design style.

To complete the new fresh new feel, a matt paper stock with exceptional whiteness was sourced from Legacy’s extensive range of paper suppliers, adding a modern – sustainable feel to this traditional title.
