British Rowing – Digital editions and app
British Rowing tasked Legacy Sport Media to find a low-cost digital solution for their members to access the official magazine on PC, tablet and mobile devices whilst also providing a subscription version to non-members. The brief was for it to be cost neutral to members, low maintenance and to provide a fresh revenue stream from new subscribers.
Legacy Sport Media developed a bespoke service utilising an existing provider, creating a saving on development costs. We worked closely with the digital team at British Rowing and created a truly seamless online experience for members.
In order to ensure only current, paid-up members could access the service, the member’s unique reference number was used to interrogate the membership database in real time to permit access. The system was built to interface with the client’s existing database and to also cope with renewals. Production costs were kept to a minimum by streamlining the digital file creation within the print magazine schedule whilst still ensuring all image based web links in advertisements were made live.
The digital take-up has built steadily over the first six months and a whole new revenue stream created for the client from sales of the app via the iStore.
